A Quote from Kathy

Odyssey. What a great word! Life is an odyssey, a long wandering intellectual or spiritual journey with many stops along the way. Albert Camus once said, “A man’s work is nothing but this slow trek, through the detours of art, to find those two or three great and simple images upon which the heart first opened.” I have discovered that painting is often not so much about the scene in front of me as a portrayal of the natural elements found in the setting or in the studio setup - trees, rocks, and flowers. My paintings often become portraits of these three subjects. Because I have always liked to draw, I choose to work in a representational style.
